Appointments
Appointments can be booked by calling into the surgery, telephone after 8.00am or via the book online tab to arrange an appointment with your Doctor. All the Partners work full-time with surgeries every morning with either afternoon or evening surgeries. The evening surgeries are intended for those who work during the day. If you are unable to keep an appointment please let us know so that it can be made available for another patient. If you are late for your appointment you may be asked to rebook for another time.
We operate an Advanced Access appointment system so you can access the health care team within 24 hours. Except for a select number of early morning and afternoon appointments, all appointments are made on the day that you require to see a Doctor. However, if you cannot see your usual Doctor due to the demand on the day, you will be offered an alternative.
All Doctors have telephone consultation appointments during both morning and afternoon/evening surgeries in which your Doctor will consult with you via the telephone. The receptionist with take a contact number and the doctor will ring you back.
If you prebook an appointment and we hold a mobile number for you, you will be sent a text reminder for the appointment confirming date and time. If you need to cancel this appointment you can do so by text, calling the Surgery or visiting the Surgery in person.
Advanced Bookings
In response to requests from our patients for more pre-bookable appointments we have expanded the number available! Most appointments at BPC are made for you to see the Doctor on the same day you call us, in fact we see over 70% of our patients within 24 hours of their 1st phone call. This exceeds targets set by the government by a wide margin.
However we realise that seeing the Doctor straight away does not always fit in with a modern busy lifestyle and it may sometimes be better to plan ahead. We have always offered pre-bookable appointments but will now be expanding the number available.
You can now book selected appointments ahead of time.
These appointments can be booked up to SIX weeks ahead.
Don't forget you can also book appointments to see the Registrar or a Nurse, Midwife, Health Care Assistant or Phlebotomist ahead of time.
We hope that providing a wide choice of types of appointment will increase accessibility and convenience for everyone.
GP+ Appointments
Suffolk GP+ is for people who urgently need a doctor’s appointment or are unable to see their GP during normal GP hours (after 6.30pm on week days and at the weekend – either Saturday or Sunday)
Please note patients cannot refer themselves into this service but appointments may be made via our Reception team during our usual opening hours..
The service is staffed by local Suffolk GPs and Nurse Practitioners in Ipswich, Felixstowe, Stowmarket, Leiston and Wickham Market and is an NHS service delivered by the Suffolk GP Federation.
You will be given a booked appointment and will be seen by a suitable local GP or nurse who will have access to your medical records which is why it is important for you to give us consent to share your medical record.
For any queries, please ask a member of our Reception team.
