How to Request a Home Visit
Please telephone between 08.00 and 10.30am whenever possible and be prepared to give the receptionist some idea of the nature and urgency of the problem. If you call for a home visit after 11.00am only the Duty Doctor will be available. The Doctor will need to determine the medical urgency of the call before deciding to visit. Non urgent cases may be postponed for another day.
Home Visits are only appropriate when medically justified. The obvious groups of patients needing home visits are the terminally ill and those whose medical condition prevents them from leaving their beds. Lack of personal transport is not sufficient justification for a home visit and there are few conditions where travelling will cause you harm. It is worth remembering we have more facilities at the Practice to assess and treat your condition.
A Doctor or Nurse may phone you back as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or that it would be more appropriate to send a Nurse, or arrange a hospital attendance.
Please remember that several patients can be seen in the Practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit.
