Advanced Nurse Practitioners are highly experienced and educated members of the care team who are able to diagnose and treat your health care needs or refer you to an appropriate specialist if needed.  They have undertaken a post graduate degree and can prescribe medications.  The Nurse Practitioners will often see patients “on the day” for urgent appointments.  At Burlington Primary Care the Nurse Practitioners work collaboratively with the General Practitioners.

Catherine joined Burlington Primary Care in March 2016. Cathy was born in Lancashire and moved to Ipswich in 1985, she qualified as a nurse in 1984 and has continued her professional development within the community setting. Cathy worked as a District Nurse in Ipswich for 15 years and gained a Specialist Practice Degree in Community Nursing in 2002.  Part of this role was to facilitate the learning of undergraduate and post graduate nurses.  Cathy has been a Community Matron working with people managing their long term conditions for five years prior to joining the Burlington Primary Care Team as a Nurse Practitioner and is an independent nurse prescriber.

Cathy’s interests outside work are spending quality time with her family and she enjoys walking in the Suffolk countryside.
