Helping Patients Stay Warm, Well and Healthy This Winter

At Burlington Primary Care, we know that cold, damp homes can have a significant impact on health and wellbeing. Living in a home that is difficult to heat can contribute to respiratory conditions, heart disease, poor mental health and increased risk of illness, particularly for older people, young children and those with long-term health conditions.

Over the past year, we have been working with East Suffolk Council through the Warm Homes / Health & Housing project to help identify and support patients who may be struggling with housing-related issues that affect their health.

The scheme provides access to specialist advice and support, including:

  • Help with heating and energy costs
  • Advice on reducing fuel poverty
  • Support with damp and mould issues
  • Information on available grants and funding
  • Housing-related wellbeing support
  • Referrals to appropriate local services

By working together, healthcare and housing services can help address some of the wider factors that influence health and improve quality of life for patients.

Watch Our Health & Housing Film

We were pleased to take part in a short film showcasing the Health & Housing partnership and the positive impact it has had for patients and local communities.

The film explains how the project works and demonstrates how health and housing professionals can work together to support people to stay healthier, safer and more independent in their own homes.
